Dressing for a live video
Prior to having a live video taken of your band there are a few things you should be aware of. Meeting with the videographer they should make you aware of some of the attire that will conflict with the camera. Here are some things not to do: 1. Don’t wear shinny clothing particularly red. The reflection tends to cause streaks and flash spots much like a lamp when it goes on brightly for a second as you’re dancing around the stage. 2. Don’t miss match styles like a cap with a suit. Unless it’s part of the act, it looks out of place. Not to say many country performers have mixed suits with cowboy hats, but it’s more often with flannel shirts and jeans. 3. Avoid shinny objects in general rings and rhinestones including boot and hats. Don’t forget guitar straps. 4. Stage shirts with strips are a common problem. Those tiny lines reap havoc with the camera. Things to do: 1. Do wear colorful clothing tops and bottoms. Semi bright is good and tends to draw attention without being over barring. 2. A pair of clean sneakers is acceptable, with matching socks. You’d be surprised what shows up on a video. 3. Iron everything even casual clothing. What appears pressed in person will not necessarily look that way on camera. 4. If you’re a bit over weight and want to appear thinner wear dark clothing. For the lady’s you can wear a one piece dress or suit. 5. For the lady’s heels are always attractive, but again avoid shinny objects. 6.
