Nothing makes a good impression like promo images shot by a professional photographer. While they can be a bit pricey it’s well worth the expense. Their experience is priceless. Most have graduated from a two and four year college and worked as an apprentice with a well-established studio. Secondly, they have a passion for the art, that’s why they go into it in the profession in first place. With a love for the art comes constantly looking to improve one’s skills. Their equipment is usually kept up to date. With today’s technology photographic equipment improves at a rapid pace. A photographer that takes pride in their work will constantly be updating. 1. What to Look For in a Photographer: How often do they photograph bands?One who does it a lot will know the best ways to capture the personality of the band. Serious, entertaining, comedic, ballads and so on can be captured through good images. A nature or modelling photographer might not be good at capturing the true essence. Do you get along personality wise?You’re going to be interacting all day and if you clash it could have an impact on the final images. Does the photographer plan the shots?Location and time of day are important. They may want to take advantage of the natural light and surroundings. Others may use their studio where the conditions can be controlled. Do they plan for extended time?Things don’t always go according to plan. Therefore the session may take a couple of more hours. If there is another session scheduled close behind it could cause everyone to be rushed making the shots unsatisfactory. Are the shots guaranteed?In case they don’t come out the way you expected will he charge you full price for another session. Look for one that charges a flat rate. This will reduce the chances of additional hours inflating the bill. 1. How You Can Prepare: Don’t party the night before especially if the session starts in the morning to capture the natural dawn light. You’ll look tired and that’s a hard thing to clean up in the studio.Get a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast. Where coordinated attire. Country clothes for a country act, tux and gowns for a wedding band and so on. Missed matched clothes give an uncoordinated appearance and shine though shoes.
